Philippines President, Benigno Aquino III, has declared Wednesday, October 27, 2010, as another special non-working (public) holiday in the areas where yesterday's barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections were postponed.

The aforementioned declaration was made following the request of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) which seeked to get another public holiday (07-Oct-2010) in the 2431 barangays where yesterday's elections could not take place.

The Comelec will soon release the list of barangays where the holiday will be declared, but this list is expected to cover mainly rural areas and not concern any of the larger metropolitan areas.

In related news, Executive Secretary Paquito "Jojo" Ochoa has said that President Aquino had not signed any proclamation declaring Tuesday, November 2, 2010, as a special non-working (public) holiday.
