Australian 2012 Queensland Public Holidays Changes Published

The Department of Justice of Australia's State of Queensland has published a revised schedule of 2011-2014 state public holidays following last week's announced revision of Queensland state public holidays beginning in 2012.

Last week (05-Nov-2011), the Premier of the Australian State of Queensland, Anna Bligh, announced that, beginning in 2012, the Queen's Birthday non-working public holiday, in the Australian State of Queensland, would be moved from the 2nd Monday in June to the 1st Monday in October.

On the same occasion, Premier Bligh also announced that a one-off public holiday for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee would be observed in June 2012 in Queensland ("In 2012 as a one-off transition, we will maintain the holiday in June and have the new one in October").

Although the published revised list of 2012 non-working public holidays specifies that it is based on "proposed amends to the Holiday Act", the opposition parties in Queensland have all come out in favor of last week's announcement and they are thus expected to come into law without any problems.
