The government of Bénin has declared Friday, November 18, 2011, as a paid non-working public holiday (journée déclarée chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national) to coincide with Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Cotonou.
The declaration of such one-off non-working public holidays in Bénin are not uncommon (27-Jul-2011, 10-Mar-2011, 24-Jan-2011, and 12-May-2010).
