The Election Commission of Bhutan has announced that a non-working public holiday would be declared on Monday, December 26, 2011, on account of the upcoming local government elections.
As per the aforementioned announcement, Monday, December 26, 2011, will be declared a non-working public holiday in the 20 dzongkhags where the elections will be held, as per the 2007 Bhutan Election Bill which legislates the principle of declaring public holidays on the date of any election to Parliament or Local Government (01-Sep-2007).
