(Posted on Tuesday, March 22, 2011)

Later this afternoon, the Isle of Man parliament (the House of Keys) will consider the addition of a new annual Manx bank/public holiday.

One of the possible new annual public holidays proposed by Isle of Man's North Douglas MHK, Bill Henderson, is January 2nd, corresponding to the anniversary of Illiam Dhone's execution in 1663.

If any change was decided, it would most likely not occur before 2012, as, ealier this year (10-Jan-2011), Tynwald issued a statutory Order fixing Friday, 29 April, the day of the royal wedding, as a Bank Holiday in 2011.
