The Executive Council of Paraguay's Comisión Nacional del Bicentenario has announced that it had finally voted for a 4-day public holidays to commemorate the upcoming bicentennial of Paraguay's independence.

As per the aforementioned resolution, the upcoming bicentennial public holidays would run from Friday, May 13, until Monday, May 16, 2011, inclusively.

Until recently (11-Mar-2011), the Government of Paraguay had been hesitating as to whether to declare Friday, May 13, or Monday, May 16, 2011, as one-off public holidays to coincide with Paraguay's independence bicentennial.

The issue arose as the annual May 15 public holiday, and the recently-voted (29-Jan-2011), but not yet promulgated, May 14, public holiday, both fall on weekend in 2011.
