Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, has issued a decree declaring "National Sports Day" as a new annual non-working public holiday in Qatar, beginning in February 2012.
The aforementioned Emiri Decision No.80 of 2011 declares the second Tuesday of February, every year beginning in 2012, as National Sports Day which will be an official paid holiday, in accordance with the Qatari Labour Law No.14 of 2004, which took effect on January 6, 2005, and as amended by the Law No.8 of 2009 (03-Sep-2009).
