The government of Timor Leste has announced that it decided to grant a day-off public holiday on Monday, January 23, 2012, all day, to all employees and agents of the ministries or departments depending on them, as well as institutes and organizations included in indirect State administration.
As per the aforementioned announcement, the public holiday on Monday, January 23, 2012, is given "on the grounds of the Chinese New Year, given the strong community of Chinese origin residing in the country" and is in line with the precepts of law No.10/2005, which overhauled Timor Leste's public holidays (12-Aug-2005) and the recently-announced (28-Dec-2011) list of official public holidays in Timor Leste for the upcoming calendar year 2012.
