Ghana's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mohammad Mumuni, has announced that Friday, August 10, 2012, had been declared a one-off non-working statutory public holiday in Ghana to coincide with the upcoming burial of the recently deceased President John Evans Atta Mills.

Three years ago (03-Sep-2009), President John Evans Atta Mills had issued an Executive Instrument declaring Monday, September 21st, 2009, a one-off official public holiday corresponding to the 100th birthday of the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, as he had announced his intention to, shortly after being elected (20-Feb-2009).

September 21st became an annual non-working public holiday in Ghana, the year after (20-Sep-2010).
