Iraq's Najaf provincial council has announced that it had declared Saturday and Sunday, January 21 and 22, 2012, as regional public holidays on account of the upcoming anniversary of the death of Prophet Mohammad.
Note that the aforementioned public holiday was declared for the anniversary of Prophet Mohammad's death, and not his birthday which will be celebrated on February 4, in 2012.
Similar regional public holidays declarations are common in Iraq (05-Jan-2012, 01-Aug-2011, 17-Mar-2011, and 10-Mar-2011).
