Omani authorities have announced the dates of the upcoming non-working public holidays for the Prophet's Birthday for both the private sector and the public sector of Oman.
In a decision by Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Omani ministries, public authorities and other units of the state administrative apparatus will remain closed on Saturday and sunday, February 4-5, 2012, on account of the upcoming Prophet's Birthday. Recall that the public sector weekend in Oman is Thursday-Friday, thus the public sector will be off work from February 2-5, 2012, inclusively.
In a separate communique, Oman's manpower Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Bakri, issued a ministerial decision stopping work at private sector companies and establishments on Saturday, February 4, 2012. As the private sector weekly day of rest in Oman is Friday, the private sector will will be off work from February 3-4, 2012, inclusively.
