The Bank of Thailand has announced that Monday, January 23, 2012, would also be a bank holiday in Thailand's southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, Satun and Yala.

As per the official statement released by the Bank of Thailand, "the Bank of Thailand has designated 23 January 2012 to be a special holiday for financial institutions located in the respective area in order to support the government policy".

This follows last week's (11-Jan-2012) declaration by the Thai Government of Monday, January 23, 2012, the date of the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, as a regional public holiday in Southern Thailand, which already enjoys a regional public holiday for Eidilfitri (End of Ramadan).
