The government of St Vincent and the Grenadines has gazetted the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2001 and confirmed that the 3 changes in the annual official non-working public holidays it contains will take effect, beginning in 2002.

At the beginning of this year (2001-01-11), the "Act to amend the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2001 (Cap.206)", was introduced and had its first reading in the St Vincent and the Grenadines legislative assembly, purporting, as per the text of the bill in the Hansard, "This Bill seeks to amend the Public Holiday's Act (Cap.206) by providing for National Heroes Day celebrated annually on the Second Monday in March instead of the 22nd day of January and abolishing Discovery Day as a Public Holiday.".

However, 2 months ago (2001-10-17), a different and expanded version of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2001 got its first reading with 3 changes to the annual official non-working public holidays in St Vincent and the Grenadines, instead of just one.

Last month (2001-11-13), that expanded version of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2001 got its second and third readings in the St Vincent and the Grenadines legislature and was passed.
