Turks and Caicos Considering Royal Wedding Public Holiday

The party leader of the Turks and Caicos Peoples Democratic Movement, Doug Parnell, has called on the interim government to declare Friday, April 29, 2011, the date of the upcoming wedding Prince William, a public holiday in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Currently, the UK (2010-11-23), Scotland (2010-11-24), the Isle of Man (2010-11-26), and, earlier today, the Cayman Islands (2010-12-21), have already announced that April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday.

In addition, Jersey (2010-11-22), Gibraltar (2010-12-01), Guernsey and Alderney (2010-12-02), and the Falkland Islands (2010-12-04), are currently considering declaring Friday, April 29, 2011, as a one-off public holiday.
