The government of Bangladesh has announced that the previously announced February 17 public holiday would begin at 2pm (14:00 local time) rather than last the entire day.
February 17, had earlier been declared a full-day public holiday in Dhaka, on account of the Cricket World Cup opening ceremonies on that date (2011-02-05 and 2011-01-28) by the Bangladesh Finance minister. But in the end, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, decided to restrict the public holiday to after 2pm.
In a separate announcement, the Board of Directors of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has announced that the DSE would be closed all day on Thursday, February 17, 2011, and therefore that it would remain closed for 4 consecutive days, from Wednesday, February 16, until Saturday, February 19, 2011, inclusively.
Note that February 21 is again a nationwide public holiday in Bangladesh.
