Kedah Public Holiday May 5

Following-up on earlier announcements by Kelantan and Terengganu, the Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Kedah, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak, has declared a one-off public holiday, on May 5, 2013, on the date of the upcoming national general elections.

Last week, the Chief Ministers of Malaysia's State of Terengganu (2013-04-17) and Kelantan (2013-04-18), had also declared a one-off state public holiday, on May 5, 2013.

The week before that (2013-04-10), the caretaker Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, had called on the Malaysian states in which Sunday is not a weekly non-working day (Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu), to declare Sunday, May 5, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming general elections.
