Peru's Minister of Labour (Ministerio de Trabajo y Promoción del Empleo-MTPE), Alfonso Grados, has issued another communique aimed at putting an end to the social media rumours about the declaration of a one-off non-working public holiday in Peru on Monday, August 29, 2016, to link the upcoming annual Santa Rosa de Lima non-working public holiday of Peru, on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, with the preceding weekend.
Once again (2016-04-29), these persistent rumours on Peruvian social media came from people finding undated news reports of an executive order (Decreto Supremo No. 019-2011-PCM), dating from 5 years ago (2011-03-06), declaring 5 additional public sector holidays for the calendar year 2011, one of these being Monday, August 29, 2011.
The aforementioned announcement that Monday, August 29, 2016, would not be an additional non-working public holiday in Peru, to link the upcoming annual Santa Rosa de Lima non-working public holiday of Peru, on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, with the preceding weekend ("Gobierno no publicará ningún dispositivo para establecer puente con el feriado del martes 30 de agosto"), is in line with the list of 2016 public holidays in Peru, as released by the government of Peru, late last year (2015-12-31).
