The Government of India's State of Telangana has issued the Circular F.No.11. CGEWCC/ Income Tax/ Holiday-2020/2020-21, which repeals the terms of the Circular F.No.11.CGEWCC/Income Tax/Holiday-2020/2019-20, related to the promotion of the Dussera restricted holiday to the status of a general public holiday in the Indian State of Telangana in 2020.
The circular states: "With above reference (i) circular was issued for observing Dussera festival as Closed Holiday on 26th October, 2020 (Monday) in State of Telangana. However, with above reference (ii) it has been directed by the Ministry of personnel, Public Grievances and pensions (Department of Personnel and Training), Establishment (JCA-2) Section that 26th October, 2020 (Monday) will remain as Restricted Holiday and can not be treated as Closed Holiday in central Government offices".
A couple of months ago (2020-03-21), the Government of Telangana had issued a circular amending the date of the upcoming Dussehra public holiday in Telangana, from October 25 to October 26, 2020 ("Change of Closed Holiday to be observed by the Central Government offices in Telangana state on the eve of “Dussehra” festival 2020") and promoting it from a restricted holiday to a general public holiday.
That initial announcement amended the "Holidays- General Holidays and Optional Holidays for the year 2020 – Notified" (G.O.Rt.No. 3022 dated 21.11.2019), released late last year (2019-11-22), and which officially lists the annual non-working public holidays to be observed in the Indian State of Telangana for the calendar year 2020.
