One of the less commonly-used options available to handle months that span 6 weeks within a 5-week mini-calendar is to is to move the days 1 and 2 to the weekday row, above the first row of dates, as shown in the example on the right.

Note that this type of mini-calendar is produced using a :Top12 mini-calendar modifier and the present MiniCal has only 5 Weeks option should be turned off (that is to say, these cases are in fact treated as 6 row mini-calendars).
