Bolivia Confused About New June Public Holiday

(Posted on Saturday, January 2, 2010)

Source: El Día (La Paz)

The 2010 agenda, recently released by the Palacio Quemado (the seat of Bolivia's executive branch) is causing confusion, as it omits June 21st from the list of 2010 Bolivian public holidays.

This omission goes against last June's (18-Jun-2009) passage by the cabinet of the Government of Bolivia of Decreto Supremo Nº 173 declaring that the Indigenous New Year, on June 21, would henceforth be an annual public holiday in Bolivia.

We expect this omission to be corrected soon.
