Honduras' Minister of the Interior, Óscar Raúl Matute, has announced that Wednesday, January 27, 2010, would be a one-off public sector holiday to coincide with that day's passation of power to President-elect Porfirio Lobo Sosa.
The minister's statement indicates that the full official text of the declaration would be released to the press on Monday (January 25: the final official text, while limited to the public sector, exhorts the private sector to do the same "el gobierno exhortó a la empresa privada para que de una concesión a los empleados que deseen acudir la ceremonia y caloricen la fiesta nacional").
Late last year, the Honduran government had declared a 2-day public sector holiday on November 27 and 30, 2009, on the occasion of the elections that brought President-elect Porfirio Lobo Sosa to power (27-Nov-2009).
