North Korea's Central Committee of the Party has confirmed that North Korea would observe Kim Jong Eun’s birthday on Friday, January 8th, 2010, but only in the form of events restricted to officials, not as an official public holiday.
There had been widespread rumours that January 8th would be declared an annual non-working public holiday in North Korea, following the first elements of the Central Committee's "Commemorative Events for Comrade Kim Jong Eun Will Be Held on January 8" document, yesterday (06-Jan-2010).
