Saint Kitts and Nevis Elections On January 25

(Posted on Sunday, January 10, 2010)

Source: Caribbean Daily News (Basseterre)

Saint Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister, Denzil Douglas, has announced that general elections in the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis would be held on Monday, January 25th, 2010.

Although, to this day, Saint Kitts and Nevis has never declared a post-election public holiday, such post-election public holidays are a common occurrence in many Caribbean countries (30-Dec-2009, 08-Sep-2009, 13-Mar-2009, 05-May-2005, 22-Feb-2005, 21-May-2003, 21-Oct-2003, 27-Nov-2003, and 23-May-1997).

Therefore, we deem it quite likely that Tuesday, January 26, 2010, will be declared a one-off post-election public holiday in the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis (regardless of who wins the election).
