Vietnam 2013 Public Holidays Announced

(Posted on Sunday, February 5, 2012)

Source: Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Hanoi)

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of the government of Vietnam has announced the official public holidays in Vietnam for the calendar year 2013.

The main uncertainty, annually, is the date of the Hung Kings Anniversary public holiday, because it is never clear if the date is to be calculated using the Vietnamese calendar (the correct manner) or Chinese calendar (often done in practice). The Hung Kings Anniversary public holiday was added to the list of official Vietnamese public holidays in March 2007 (24-Mar-2007), and after some hesitation, it was made a public holiday effective immediately in 2007 (29-Mar-2007).

It is not clear if this year's extension of the Tet lunar New Year public holidays (28-Dec-2011) will be repeated.
