Bahrain's Central Bank has published its list of expected bank and public holidays in Bahrain for the calendar year 2010.
This published list does not contain the days in lieu that occur when a public holiday falls on one of the weekends days as defined in Bahrain (2006-08-02).
In addition, it would appear that the dates of Muslim festivals listed by the Bahrain Central Bank are based on a rough arithmetic calendar, and not on the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar that is traditionally used in Bahrain and most of the GCC Gulf States. Therefore, we expect that a revised list will be published later in 2009, or early 2010.
Finally, the 2010 public holidays list published by the Central Bank of Bahrain does not address the issue of the coincidence of the Ashoora and National Day public holidays in December 2010, as was the case in 2007 (2007-12-15).
