Pakistan's Ministry of Interior has announced that Friday, March 23, 2012, had been declared a non-working public holiday throughout the country to coincide with "the auspicious occasion of Pakistan Day".
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the list of the expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2012 in Pakistan as released by Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, in consultation with Karachi's Meteorological Department, earlier this year (2012-01-15).
In a separate announcement (BPRD Circular Letter No. 05 of 2012), the State Bank of Pakistan announced that Friday, March 23, 2012, would be a bank holiday in Pakistan.
