Macedonian 2016 Public Holidays Announced

Macedonia's Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has released its annual list of official non-working public holidays in Macedonia for the calendar year 2016.

As usual (2015-01-05, 2014-01-11, 2013-01-01, 2012-12-03, 2011-11-03, 2010-10-22 and 2009-10-26), the aforementioned announcement, of the list of official non-working public holidays in Macedonia for the calendar year 2016, follows the 2007 Bill on Amending the Law on State Holidays (2007-02-08), always with the possible addition of last-minute public holidays, most commonly the frequent tree planting public holidays (2013-11-28, 2013-11-23, 2012-11-15, 2011-03-28, 2010-11-17, 2010-03-28, 2009-11-12, 2008-11-18, and 2008-03-12).

Contrary to what happened last year (2015-01-05), no second day has been added for the Ramazan Bajram (End of Ramadan) non-working public holiday of Macedonia in 2016, as there was no need in 2016 to compensate the conflict of Orthodox Easter Monday and the day in lieu for the May 1st, Labour Day, non-working public holiday of Macedonia, as was the case in 2015.

In addition to the 11 general public holidays listed in the aforementioned announcement, there are sectorial holidays that may be taken by: citizens of Orthodox religion, Catholic religion, Muslim religion, the Albanian community, the Serb community, the Roma community, the Vlach community, the Jewish community, the Bosniak community, and the Turkish community.
