The Government of Lebanon has announced its annual list of official Lebanese non-working public holidays in Lebanon for the upcoming calendar year 2018.
Once again (2017-01-22, 2015-11-29, 2014-11-30, 2013-12-21, 2012-11-30, 2011-11-30 and 2010-11-27), and contrary to what happened 8 years ago (2010-01-03), the listed dates of public holidays based on the Islamic calendar appear to be correct (or, at least, not as wildly off as they were that year).
The May 25 public holiday declared a decade ago (2009-05-22), and the "Feast of the Annunciation" public holiday that was added a few years later (2010-02-19), are included in the aforementioned announcement, using rules that diverge from those of the liturgy.
This announcement, as usual, does not include the February 14, anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri (Commémoration de l'assasinat du PM Rafic Hariri), which is usually announced at the last-minute (2017-02-02, 2015-02-08, 2014-02-10, 2013-02-09, 2012-02-10, 2011-02-10, 2009-02-10, 2008-02-09, and 2007-02-13), and only in years when February 14 does not fall on a weekend, as was the case 2 years ago.
